The following information regarding the use of cookies is made available to the User in compliance with provisions by the Guarantor for the protection of personal data, Legislative Decree 196/2003 of the “General Data Protection Regulation –

EU Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council of 27th April 2016”

The information is provided and updated by SELT SpA, manager of the website and Data Controller of personal data corresponding to the website. Further queries regarding the use of cookies on this website may be sent via e‑mail to selt@seltspa.com.

All personal data is handled by specified data processors appointed by Selt SpA.

• Data Controller

The company SELT SpA – Sistemi Elettrici e Telefonici, with its legal office in Cagliari, Via Ruggero Bacone, no. 4, is the Data Controller for personal data collected by this site in accordance with and pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/2003 of GDPR 679/2016 and Legislative Decree 101 dated 10/08/2018.

In accordance with our commitment to the safekeeping and protection of personal data, the following information details the methods, purposes and scopes regarding the communication and dissemination of users’ personal data and the corresponding user rights, in accordance with Legislative Decree 196/2003 and GDPR 679/2016.

• Personal Data and Navigation Data

In order to offer personalized services within its website, the Data Controller must process the personal data detailed below, which is necessary in order to offer such services.

a) Navigation Data

The computerized systems, technical procedures and software underlying the operation of this website acquire personal data during their normal operation, the transmission of which is implicit to the operational mechanisms and protocols observed on the Internet.

Every time the User accesses this site or requests content, the relevant access data is stored in our systems and potentially also by the appointed Data Processors and Data Handler (where appointed), in the form of structured and/or unstructured tabular or linear data files (within specific log files).

Each line of data storage comprises information such as:

  • The website from which our page was referred (“referral”);
  • The User’s IP address;
  • The date and time of the request or access;
  • The request made by the User’s browser or other client, in the form of URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses;
  • The technical code of the http response obtained from the server (error, successful, etc.);
  • The amount of data transmitted;
  • The browser, its technical and functional specifications and the operating system used.

Such data may be used by the Data Controller for the sole purpose of obtaining anonymous statistical information regarding use of the site in order to identify users’ favourite pages and thus provide increasingly suitable content and verify the correct running of the site. On request by the Authority, the data may be used to ascertain responsibility in the event of hypothetical computer crimes against the site or its users.

b) Data Provided Voluntarily by the User

At various points within this site, the User has the option to transmit data to us (e.g. e‑mail address, name postal/zip code, and other personal and non‑personal data). Such data is sent on an optional, explicit and voluntary basis, and involves the subsequent acquisition of the User’s e‑mail address, which is necessary to respond to requests, and of any other personal data entered for the purpose of the service or otherwise provided by the User.

Personal data provided by the User is recorded and stored on protected electronic media and is processed using the appropriate security measures, and as such is linked with and integrated into other Databases. Such data is processed using only the methods and procedures necessary to provide the User with the requested services.

The data collected will not be disclosed but may be communicated, where necessary in order to provide a service, to other companies that perform instrumental technical and organizational tasks for the provision of requested services on behalf of the company.

Data may be used for statistical analysis, market research and the sending of commercial information on products and promotional initiatives by the company and/or third-party companies only where express consent has been provided by the User. Communications for market research or commercial information on products and promotional initiatives may be sent via post, e-mail, telemarketing, text message or MMS.

Where User consent has been provided, data may also be used for profiling purposes, which may be carried out by:

  1. automated processing of User personal data, where permitted, in relation to the use of services for sending and receiving messages via e‑mail;
  2. cross-referencing of personal data provided by the User in relation to the use of different functions;
  3. use of other identifying data necessary to provide identified or identifiable individual Users with specific actions or recurring behavioural patterns in their use of the functions offered.

In accordance with current legislation, the User is required to consent to the processing of his or her personal data by ticking the box marked “Accept” on the registration form. It should be understood that consent refers to the processing of data with the exception of those strictly necessary for the operations and services requested by a User at the time of access, as the latter does not require User consent.

Where necessary, the User may be requested to provide further information, necessary for the provision of any additional services requested.

The provision of data is optional, except in the case of any data indicated as mandatory in order for the User to gain access to the services offered. The User retains the right to know, at any time, which data has been stored and how they are used. The User also retains the right to request that his or her data be updated, added to, corrected or deleted, and to block their storage and to oppose their processing. Users are reminded that the aforementioned rights are stipulated in Art. 7 of Legislative Decree 196/2003.

The updated list of Authorized Data Processors and External Data Controllers referred to in this report may be made available for consultation upon specific communication by mail addressed to the abovementioned Company, or via e-mail to the following address: selt@seltspa.com

• Cookie Policy

In order to optimize visits to our website by Users, we use cookies to present the range of services we offer.

These are small text files stored locally in the temporary memory of the User’s browser, and therefore in the User’s computer, for variable lengths of time depending on their use. Storage time generally ranges between a few hours and a few years, with the exception of profiling cookies, which are stored for a maximum of 365 calendar days.

Using cookies makes it possible to semi-permanently store information regarding User preferences and other technical data that permit easier navigation and improve the site’s ease of use and effectiveness. For example, cookies can be used to determine if a connection has already been made between a User’s computer and our website, in order to highlight new content or to keep the User’s login information for the website, if the User is registered. In the interest of the User, only the cookies stored on the User’s computer are accessed.

Types of Cookies

This website uses three different types of cookies:

1. Essential Technical Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the site to function correctly. They allow for browsing pages, sharing contents and memorization of User access credentials, which permit quicker access to the site and maintain User preferences and credentials active during browsing.

Without these cookies, it would not be possible to provide the services for which Users access the site.

2. Statistical and Performance Cookies

These cookies allow us to understand how visitors use the site, in order to evaluate and improve its functionality and to facilitate the production of content that best meets the informative needs of our users. For example, these cookies allow us to learn which pages are the most and least popular. The information processed includes the number of visitors, the time spent on the site by the average User and how each User arrives at the website. In this way, we are able to understand what works well and what to improve, as well as ensuring that the pages load quickly and are displayed correctly. All information collected by these cookies is anonymous and is not linked to the User's personal data. We use third parties to perform these functions on our sites. Data is anonymized, which renders it impossible to link information to a single individual (also referred to as a “single‑in”). Any services that are not entirely anonymized are listed among the third-party cookies for which it is possible to refuse consent, in order to guarantee User privacy.

3. Functionality Cookies and Third-Party Profiling Cookies

This category includes cookies supplied by known partner companies of Selt SpA and cookies provided by third parties that are not directly controlled or supervised by the company.

Cookies from third parties allow advanced features, further information and personal features to be offered. This includes the ability to share content through social networks, to access video streaming services and to access the CDN networks on which our website is hosted. Such services are principally provided by external operators employed by, or consciously integrated by Selt SpA. Where a User possesses an account with or uses the services of such companies on other websites, it may be possible for the company to learn that the User has visited our sites. The uses of data collected by external operators through cookies is subject to their respective privacy policies. As such, these cookies are identified alongside the names of the corresponding third-party companies, listed in the cookie management tool available in the relevant section of this document. These include cookies registered by the principal social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, Vimeo and Twitter) that allow the User to share the contents of our site and publicly express his or her appreciation of our work. Cookies that are not supplied by partner companies of Selt SpA are transmitted beyond the control of Selt SpA, by third parties able to intercept the User during his or her navigation, even outside of the seltSpA.com website.

These cookies are typically profiling cookies and are not handled directly by Selt SpA. Therefore, Selt SpA cannot guarantee the purposes for which any third-party owners use the information collected.

• Managing Cookies

Should the User have any doubts or concerns regarding the use of cookies, it is always possible to intervene to prevent their storage and reading. This can be achieved by changing the privacy settings in the User’s browser in order to block certain types of cookie or by using the tool provided in this document.

Given that each browser - and often different versions of the same browser - vary significantly from each other, the User may prefer to act independently through his or her own browser preferences. Detailed information on the required procedure may be found in the browser guide.

For an overview of the steps to follow in the most commonly used browsers, please visit the following address:

 http://www.cookiepedia.co.uk/index.php?title=How_to_Manage_Cookies

Advertising companies also allow the User to opt out of receiving targeted advertisements, where desired. This does not prevent the installation of cookies but blocks the use and collection of some data by these companies.

For more information and the opportunity to opt out, please visit the following address:

 www.youronlinechoices.eu/it/

• How to Control the Installation of Cookies

In addition to following the instructions contained in this document, the User can also manage cookie preferences directly in his or her browser and prevent, for example, their installation by third parties.

Through browser preferences, it is also possible to delete previously installed cookies, including those in which consent to the installation of cookies by this website is saved.

It is important to note that disabling all cookies may compromise the operation of this website.

In the case of services provided by third parties, the User may also exercise his or her right to object to tracking. This can be carried out using the third-party company’s privacy policy, by selecting the opt out link where explicitly provided or by contacting the company directly.

Notwithstanding the above, the Data Controller wishes to inform the User that he or she may also use Your Online Choices. This service can be used to manage tracking preferences for most advertising tools. The Data Controller therefore advises Users to use this resource in addition to the information provided in this document.

The User may block or limit any cookies received using his or her browser options. This is possible in Internet Explorer by clicking on the “Tools” item in the Menu bar, selecting “Internet Options” and accessing the settings in the “Privacy” tab to change cookie preferences. To achieve this in Firefox, click on the “Tools” item in the Menu bar, select “Options” and access the “Privacy” settings. In Chrome, type “chrome://settings/content” into the address bar (without inverted commas) and change the cookie settings as desired. In Safari, select “Preferences” followed by “Privacy”, and modify the settings in the “Block Cookies” section to choose how Safari accepts cookies from websites. When using Safari on a portable device, such as an iPhone or an iPad, go to the device’s “Settings” and locate “Safari” on the left‑hand menu. From here, it is possible to identify and manage cookie preferences under the “Privacy and Security” heading. To disable cookies from external services, the procedure must be carried out using the external company’s own settings:

• Accepting and Refusing Cookies

By continuing to browse this website after closing the information banner, by clicking on any part of the page or by scrolling to reveal further content, the User accepts the xxx Cookie Policy and cookies will be set and collected. Should the User choose not to accept cookies by ceasing to browse the website, any cookies already stored locally in his or her browser will remain stored there but will no longer be read or used by xxx unless the User subsequently accepts the Policy.

• Data Controller Responsibilities regarding Third-Party Cookies

From the moment of installation of cookies, and of other tracking systems operated by third parties through the services used within this Application that cannot be technically controlled by the Data Controller, any and all specific references to cookies and tracking systems installed by third parties should be considered as guidelines. To obtain comprehensive information, please consult the privacy policies stipulated by the third‑party services listed in this document. Given the complex nature of identifying technology based on cookies and their very close integration with the operation of the web, the User is advised to contact the Data Controller should he or she wish to receive further information on the use of cookies and on any additional uses, for example by third parties, carried out via this website.
