Nurra Wind Farm

The Context
In 2012, SELT took part in one of Italy’s most technically demanding wind energy projects of its time, delivering the infrastructure required for the installation of three 3.2 MW wind turbines with a hub height of 93 metres.
Developed in the Nurra region of Sardinia, an area historically associated with the Fiume Santo coal-fired power station, the project marked an important step in the region’s transition toward renewable energy generation.
The Challenge
The project combined complex civil engineering and electrical works within a single construction programme.
One of the most demanding phases involved the construction of the turbine foundations, which required continuous concrete pours without interruption to ensure structural integrity.
Each foundation was completed through a 12-hour continuous concrete pour, using two concrete pumps and approximately 75 ready-mix concrete trucks, demonstrating the level of planning, coordination, and execution required to meet the project’s technical specifications.
