Sandalia Solar Farm – Sonnedix

The Sandalia Solar Farm project represented a strategic investment in connecting Sonnedix’s 69.53 MWp photovoltaic plant in Sardinia to Italy’s National Transmission Grid. The works included the detailed engineering and construction of the 220 kV grid connection infrastructure, comprising the development of the electrical substation facilities and the installation of the high-voltage underground cable system.
SELT delivered a multidisciplinary project encompassing civil works, electromechanical installation and telecommunications systems. The scope included the construction of two 220 kV electrical substations, the installation of approximately 4 km of underground cable with specialised crossings using trenchless technologies, the installation of high-voltage equipment, and the deployment of dedicated fibre optic infrastructure. Following testing and commissioning, the project now provides essential infrastructure for the safe and efficient transmission of renewable energy generated by the plant to the National Transmission Grid, making a tangible contribution to the region’s energy transition.
