150 kV Lula–Galtellì Underground Transmission Line – Terna Rete Italia S.p.A.

Lula - Sardegna

The project involved the construction of a new 150 kV underground transmission line connecting the Lula and Galtellì Primary Substations in the Province of Nuoro, Sardinia. Commissioned as part of Terna Rete Italia S.p.A.’s National Transmission Grid development programme, the project represents a strategic investment in strengthening Sardinia’s electricity transmission network, improving system reliability, operational flexibility, and power transfer capacity.

SELT was responsible for the construction of Lot 1, covering the section between the Lula Primary Substation and Joint Bay No. 14. Our scope of work included the civil works required for the cable route, installation of the high-voltage underground cable system, execution of cable jointing activities, and construction of the associated infrastructure required for the transmission connection.

Successful delivery relied on detailed construction planning, close coordination between specialist field teams, and effective management of route constraints, all while meeting Terna’s stringent health, safety, quality, and technical standards. Once completed, the new underground transmission link will enhance the resilience of Sardinia’s electricity network and support the ongoing modernization of the regional power system, contributing to greater efficiency and facilitating the integration of future energy infrastructure.
