HV Underground Cable Connection

In Belpasso, Sicily, SELT delivered a 150 kV underground cable connection forming a key part of the local power transmission infrastructure. The project extended over approximately 27 km and required the transportation, handling and installation of large cross-section 2,000 mm² cables, together with the precise execution of high-voltage cable jointing.

To meet these requirements, SELT deployed dedicated in-house specialist teams to complete 24 cable joints and six composite and dry-type cable terminations, with multiple work fronts operating simultaneously to optimise the construction programme.

The scope extended beyond cable installation to include the installation of SVL (Sheath Voltage Limiter) systems and associated earthing solutions. The result is a highly reliable transmission asset delivered through the effective coordination of logistics, civil works and specialist electromechanical installation.
