Pozzallo Photovoltaic Plants

The Context
Located at the southern tip of Italy, Sicily offers ideal conditions for solar power generation. Preserving the island’s coastal landscape, however, required careful integration of the project with its natural surroundings.
The construction of two solar plants with a combined installed capacity of 3.5 MW in the municipality of Pozzallo, just a few kilometres from the coast, required meticulous engineering and a site-specific design approach.
The Challenge
Minimising earthworks was essential to reducing both the environmental impact of the project and the overall construction time and cost. SELT addressed this challenge by designing lightweight, flexible support structures capable of adapting to the site’s natural topography.
Drilled pile foundations provided the structural support for the installation. To enable drilling equipment to operate on waterlogged ground, temporary access tracks were constructed to ensure safe and efficient site operations.

At SELT, we believe that collaboration with specialist local contractors creates added value while providing greater operational flexibility.
To accelerate project delivery in Pozzallo, local companies were engaged to carry out civil works and mechanical installation activities under the direct coordination of SELT’s site management team. This integrated approach improved construction efficiency, reduced delivery times and generated greater value for the client.
