San Bellino Solar Park

The Context
Located a few kilometres from Venice, San Bellino became Europe’s largest photovoltaic plant when it entered operation in 2010.
Covering an area of 850,000 m² and comprising 280,000 photovoltaic panels, the San Bellino Solar Park is a significant example of SELT’s project delivery capabilities. In just six months—compared with an average delivery time of eighteen months—SELT completed the high-voltage grid connection between the photovoltaic plant and the electrical substation. The project included design, procurement and construction of the entire connection infrastructure.
The Challenge
The project was developed as an international initiative. The US-based owner appointed the Spanish company Isolux to supply the photovoltaic panels, while SELT was entrusted with delivering the National Transmission Grid connection and the construction of the new electrical substation within an exceptionally demanding programme.
SELT’s expertise ensured that Terna, the owner of Italy’s National Transmission Grid, received infrastructure delivered in full compliance with European technical standards and with the level of reliability required for a project of this scale, despite the compressed delivery schedule.
A Safety-Driven Team
At SELT, we recognise that rapid project delivery plays an important role in reducing overall project costs. At the same time, we believe that fast execution must always be supported by the highest professional standards and strict compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working conditions across every project.
We continuously invest in the safety of our people, implementing rigorous procedures and practices to minimise risks across our construction site.
