Trento HV Grid Rationalisation

In Trentino, SELT is delivering a major transmission network upgrade programme to strengthen the 132 kV network. The mountainous terrain presented significant logistical challenges, with limited site accessibility and the need to construct specialist foundations in rock using micropiles.

To address these challenges, SELT deployed helicopter-supported logistics for the transportation of materials and the erection of transmission towers in remote areas inaccessible to conventional equipment. In addition to constructing the new transmission line sections, the project includes the decommissioning of obsolete transmission lines, material recovery and the environmental restoration of the affected areas.

The project demonstrates SELT’s ability to combine advanced engineering solutions with responsible environmental management, improving the reliability of the Alpine transmission network.
